Mission Statement
To provide efficient and economic access to desired destinations such as employment, shopping and other facilities in a quick, convenient and safe manner for all citizens in every section of the city. To provide good drainage and maintenance of the drainage system.

Description
The Street Department maintains paved and unpaved streets, alleys, drainage ways, traffic control signs and information signs. Also, responsible for the construction or reconstruction of City streets and storm drains, ditches and culvert systems.

Goals

1. To provide safe and good quality streets and alleyways for the Citizens and visitors of the City of Silsbee through a budgeted maintenance plan.

2. To provide the best drainage of city streets, while maintaining overall drainage system for citizens and visitors of the City of Silsbee.

3. To provide proper and adequate signs for street and traffic information.

4. To alleviate as much ponding of water in roadways as possible.

Objectives

1. To maintain and or rebuild or resurface streets in accordance to maintenance plans for the City of Silsbee.

2. To maintain or enhance the City's drainage system ditches and culverts in providing proper flow and alleviate ponding through shoulder work and curb and gutter maintenance.

3. To mow street right of ways and alleys and removing overhanging limbs and brush in a timely manner.

4. To continue to review sign replacement projects and replace signs through the sign replacement project throughout the City of Silsbee.

5. Conduct bi-monthly Safety meetings.
