MISSION STATEMENT

To provide effective services to the citizens of Silsbee.

The City of Silsbee is primarily responsible for maintaining a safe, pleasant environment within the community by providing effective governance and the efficient delivery of public services.

As part of the process of providing representative local government, the city will strive to identify and anticipate concerns, problems and opportunities and take actions to address them. The City government will also strive to involve residents, businesses and civic organizations in the development and maintenance of a well- integrated community.

The City is responsible for the maintaining of the community physical and aesthetic assets and for the efficient management and equitable allocation of the community fiscal resources. The City Council is the legislative and governing body of the city.

DESCRIPTION

The City of Silsbee is a home rule city operating under the current charter adopted in 1973. The governing body of the City is composed of a mayor and six councilpersons, with the mayor and two councilpersons elected At Large and four councilpersons from Single-Member Districts. The mayor and councilpersons are elected by direct ballot.

GOALS

1. Provide the essential services needed in the City, employing the most cost effective methods available.

2. Identify and anticipate community concerns and needs and implement the necessary actions.

OBJECTIVES

1. Continue implementation and updating of the City's Charter and Code of Ordinances.

2. Continue implementation and updating the City's Planning and Zoning Ordinances.

3. Continue implementation of the City's infrastructure System.

4. Continue implementation of needed Annexation
